I am originally from the west moved to wicklow some years ago.I have seen the following in the last year.
A basking shark in Brittas Bay,incredible when you realize that there is no depth to the water here.
A sunfish a few miles further south.Yes it was a sunfish I was viewing it from a height so could clearly see it.

That sounds soo great! I took my grandneices over to Spiddal, to the right of the pier but we were very disappointed in the little we saw. Yes, there were some very cool shoals of tiny fish, but no jelly fish or crabs or anything else. Maybe it was the wrong time of the day or I wasn't looking in the right places. They enjoyed the experience but it was mainly the novelty of climbing over rocks on the shore as they come from landlocked Co. Tyrone1

When humans are sick they go to bed to rest. Might not Dolphins strand to save energy? I can't imagine feeling sick and having to swim around all day! Just a thought...

Spent the morning snorkeling off Otway golf course near Rathmullen in Donegal. Small cuttlefish (3 - 5cm) were common enough in about 50cm of water just off the beach.

Watched them hunting, changing colour, burying themselves in the sand and then squirting ink when a finger got too close.
